မင်းတပ်မြို့နယ်၊ တိုက်နယ် အမှတ် ၁၂ ဘက်ဒေသတွေမှာ မိုးသည်းထန်စွာရွာ သွန်းမှုကြောင့် တောင်သူတွေစိုက်ပျိုးထားတဲ့ ၀ဉ (ဖျံဉ) စိုက်ခင်းတွေ မြေပြိုပျက်စီးပြီး စပါး ၊ ပဲ ၊ပြောင်း တွေလည်းပိုးစားတာကြောင့်အပင် သေဆုံး မှု တွေရှိတယ်လို့ ဒေသခံတွေထံကသိရပါတယ်။
အဲဒီဖြစ်စဉ်က ရိုကျေးရွာအုပ်စုဘက်မှာ ပြီးခဲ့တဲ့ ဇူလိုင် လတုန်းကဖြစ်ခဲ့တာလို့သိရပြီး မြေပြိုမှုကြောင့် ပျက်စီးသွားတဲ့ ယာခင်း ၅ ဧက ၀န်းကျင် ထက်မနည်းရှိတယ်လို့ ဆိုပါတယ်။
အဲဒါနဲ့ပတ်သက်လို့ဒေသခံအမျိုးသမီးတစ်ဦးက “မိုးအရမ်းသည်းတဲ့ချိန် ဇူလိုင်လတုန်းကပေါ့။ကျွန်မတို့၀ဉ ခင်းကတော့ တစ်၀က်ကျော် ပြိုတယ်။ ဒီနှစ်ဖော်ရမယ့်အခင်းပါ။ ကျန်တဲ့သူတွေလည်း အခင်းတွေမြေပြိုတာရှိတယ်” လို့ Zalen ကိုပြောပါတယ်။
ဆက်လက်ပြီး ” မြေပြိုတာတွေက အပေါ်ကနေစပြိုတော့ မပြိုတဲ့နေရာတွေပါမြေဖို့ပြီး တူးဖော်လို့မရနိုင်တော့သလို တစ်ချို့ယာခင်းတေွက မနှစ်က ပြိုပြီးသားနေရာတွေမှာထပ်ပြိုတာကြောင့် အခက်အခဲ တွေကြုံနေရတယ်” လို့ ထပ်မံရှင်းပြပါတယ်။
အဆိုပါ ၀ဉ စိုက်တဲ့အခင်းတွေကို တော့ဒီနှစ် တူးဖော် ရမယ့်အခင်းတွေဖြစ်သလို မိုးတွေ ဆက်တိုက်ပြန်ရွာနေတာကြောင့်လည်းအခင်းမြေပြိုပျက်စီးတာတွေထပ်ဖြစ်လာမှာကိုလည်းစိုးရိမ်ရတယ်လို့ဆိုပါတယ်။
အလားတူ အခြားသီးနှံစိုက်ပျိုးပင်တွေဖြစ်တဲ့ စပါး ၊ပဲ ၊ပြောင်းတွေ ကိုလည်း ပိုးတွေစားလို့ အပင်ရှင်သန်မှုမရှိ ဘဲ သေဆုံးတာတွေ၊ အပင်မသန်တာတွေ ကြုံနေရတယ်လို့ နောက်ထပ်ဒေသခံအမျိုးသားတစ်ဦးကပြောပါတယ်။
” အပင်တွေက စိုက်ရင်အစကကောင်းပြီး အခုဆို ပိုးတွေစားလို့ သေတာများလာတယ်။ ပြောင်းဖူးဆိုလည်း အဖူးမဖူးနိုင်ဘူး။ စပါးတွေလည်း အပင်မသန်တော့ဘဲ ပြန်သေလာတယ်။ ပဲစိုက်ပြန်လည်း အသီး၊အရွက်တွေပိုး စားပြန်တယ်” လို့ ပြောပြပါတယ်။
စိုက်ပျိုးထားတဲ့အပင်တွေ အခုလိုပိုးစားတာတွေက မနှစ်က စိုက်ပျိုးချိန်ရာသီမှာ တော့ အနည်းငယ်ကြုံနေရပေမယ့် ဒီနှစ်ရာသီမှာတော့ သိသိသာသာ ပိုဖျက်ဆီးလာတယ်လို့ဆိုပါတယ်။

Heavy Rains Trigger Landslides in Mindat, Destroying Yam Fields; Crops Hit by Pest Infestation

Severe rains in Mindat Township’s Sub-Township No. 12 area have caused landslides that destroyed yam (pheon yams) plantations, while paddy, beans, and corn crops have also been devastated by pest infestations, according to local residents.
The incident occurred in July near the Yaw village tract, with at least five acres of yam fields reported damaged by landslides.
“Around July, when the rains were very heavy, more than half of our yam plantation was destroyed by landslides. This was supposed to be the harvest season. Other families also lost parts of their fields,” a local woman told Zalen.
She added that fresh landslides have made cultivation even harder. “When the soil collapses from above, even areas that didn’t slide are buried, making it impossible to dig. Some fields that collapsed last year were hit again this year, creating more problems,” she explained.
Farmers fear further damage as rains continue to fall. The yam plantations affected were due for harvest this year, but more landslides could occur if heavy downpours persist.
Other crops, including rice, beans, and corn, are also being destroyed by pests, residents said.
“The crops started out healthy, but now pests are destroying them. Corn plants can’t even grow ears properly, the rice stalks are withering, and beans are losing their leaves and pods to pests,” a local farmer reported.
While minor infestations occurred last year, farmers say this season’s pest problem is significantly worse and more destructive.
In Sub-Township No. 12—covering villages such as Lon Khaw, Yaw, Ma Chone, Pho Khoyoe, Pyone, Twi Dain, Hleim Sam, Paung, and Dain—the price of a 20-basket sack of rice has now risen to 150,000 kyat, compounding hardships for local households.
